REQUIREMENTS

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and knowledge of state and federal laws concerning the handling of confidential patient information through education or training. Previous work experience in medical records / HIM is preferred. Computer, organization and communication skills are required. Must be able to work in a team environment, function in an often disruptive setting and be professionally responsive when dealing with patients and other customers. Ability to learn to back up Director.

The successful applicant will display the following attributes:

• Communication- ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing
• Health Knowledge- knowledgeable about ICD9/ICD10 and DSMIV/DSM 5
• Technical- skilled in Microsoft Suite as well as experienced in working within an EHR
• Attention to Detail- organized and able to maintain health records in accordance with applicable HIPAA and related rules/regulations to protect PHI
• Efficient- able to effectively reorganize paper charts among various locations as room opens up

JOB DUTIES

This position is primarily responsible for chart abstraction and records storage maintenance per federal and state law. This position will also be involved in the transition to scanning, will provide peer coverage during absences, and will be assigned ancillary duties as business needs require.
