Description

Ridgeview Behavioral Health Services, a not-for-profit community mental health center, has an immediate opening for a part-time (20 hrs/wk) Peer Support Center Assistant. This position serves Campbell County (LaFollette) and will be scheduled during the center's open hours of 11:00am-7pm, Thurs/Fri/Sat. 

Ridgeview has served the local Anderson, Roane, Morgan, Campbell, and Scott county communities for over 60 years and offers a friendly work environment where staff work together to provide high quality behavioral health services through prevention, treatment of mental illness and substance abuse, and support to improve the overall health, wellbeing, recovery, and hope of the people we serve. 

REQUIREMENTS

Must be a current or former mental health consumer; must have knowledge of and sensitivity to the needs of adults with serious mental illness; must have good communication, decision-making, and organizational skills; must be active in your mental health recovery.  Must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license and safe driving record to be insurable under Ridgeview’s policy.  Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) or CPRS-eligible preferred, but not required.

JOB DUTIES

A consumer-run Peer Support Center is a central place for consumer self-help, advocacy, and education about mental health issues and resources.  Through a Peer Support Center, consumers develop their own program to supplement existing mental health services or provide an alternative to those services.  The Program Assistant will aid the program manager and other consumers to share the responsibility for developing, with the consumer, planning group and the Advisory Board, a center within Ridgeview’s catchment area.  Duties will include peer support, assistance in recordkeeping, implementation of the program in the absence of the program manager.
